Finding Community at a Tiny Home Festival

My family and I packed our belongings and other amenities for our 3 month trip to San Diego for the TinyFest in February, 2020 and to explore the world of tiny in the great state of California. We were so looking forward to meeting up with new and old friends, expanding our enthusiasm and ideas and for me to speak about the Future of Tiny Home Villages at the Festival.

We were thrilled by what we found. We were so encouraged by the shear number of participants at the Festival and their sincerity of knowing each other and creating a stronger community. Different ages, ethnicity, economies and needs, brought us all together to share what is currently happening, but more effectively, what our communities and new cities will be doing.

The sharing of knowledge and comradery was so free, it was a breath of fresh air. There were experts and authorities from all over the United States, including my friends Alexis Stephens and Christian Parsons of Tiny House Expedition, internationally known and TV personality John Weisbarth, the host of Tiny House Nation and San Diego’s very own Council-member Scott Sherman of District 7, as well as, a myriad of other very knowledgeable people that were willing to share about tiny living, construction and other notable options. Options that included the amazing potential of tiny homes, schoolies, vans, retro and everything in-between, as well as, other services – financing, insurance, solar and associations. It is great to know that this amazing movement is pursuing the future with gusto and has full resources and the backing of many governing bodies, including the State of Washington, that just legalized tiny homes on wheels, as well as, tiny home villages in July of 2019.

We had a fantastic time at the TinyFest and are looking forward to continuing our exploration of California and meeting a ton more friends in the process, forever building community. I am so happy that I belong to the Community of Tiny. Come participate in the next tiny festival, event or meet-up you can find or say hi on-line. We would love to meet you and get to know you and help you with your quest for a different way of living.
